Mobile Content FAQ
What is immedia24?
It is a system that enables you to sell pictures, video, audio and files to mobile users.
You can sell existing content from a website, or create new mobile content.
Mobile users are charged for downloading this content by Premium SMS - a reverse charge text message to their phone.
How do users get the files?
They send a text message starting with a keyword (eg GO) and a reference code to a shortcode number.
How do mobile users pay for their content?
All payments are made by Reverse Charge Premium SMS.
What's Reverse Charge Premium SMS?
The user is charged to receive an SMS - the value of this message is in fixed amounts - 25p, 50p, £1 or £1.50 or multiples of £1.50 to their phone bill.
Can Pay As You Go users get downloads?
Yes. As long as they have enough credit on their phone then they can pay for and receive your files.
Once they've paid how do they receive their files?
When we send the Premium SMS we also send a link to their file or files which they select to download.
Does a user have to have a fancy mobile handset?
Generally no. They need a color screen, WAP enabled and a GPRS or 3G connection - that's around 80% of UK users.
How do I get the files into your system in the first place?
immedia24 is designed to be simple to use - it's web-based and can be used from any internet connected PC.
All you do is login, create a gallery and use the browse button to upload your content and preview files.
What are preview files for?
immedia24 includes a web and mobile preview as standard - you can create a web site and a mobile site that you can link into your ownpages, or promote on it's own. You can customise the style, backgrounds and the whole thing is optimised for the search engines.
How do I protect my content from unauthorised users, or stop authorised users downloading it again and again?
When we send the download link to the mobile user it is encrypted - they can't guess where it is! They are then allowed to download it 5 times after which they cannot do it again.
All files stored on the system are in a protected area.
I have lots of files and galleries that I want to upload, can I do more than one at a time?
Yes! We have a facility to upload a complete gallery in zip format.
How much can I charge users to download content?
There are only certain prices that can be charged for Premium SMS. They are 25p, 50p, £1 and £1.50. You can also set a multiples of Premium SMS ie 2 x £1.50 messages (£3 in total).
How much do I get?
It varies depending on the charge, but around 55% of the value of the SMS.
55% doesn't sound like much!
Premium SMS is not the same as credit cards. If you take a £1.50 SMS for example, firstly the government takes 23p in VAT. The mobile networks then take around 35p and we keep the remainder as a fee for using our system.
Can I have subscription or recurring billing?
Yes you can - you can set the system to bill daily, weekly or monthly. However, there have been many complaints by users about subscription billing and some companies have received large fines. We only let you do it once we can see that you will update your content for each billing, that it is advertised correctly and you provide support to anyone who has a problem.
How do I know what I've earned?
Live stats show each message and PSMS that has come through. You can check this as often as you like and save a data file.
How do I get my money?
At the end of each month, you generate a statement in your Transactions sections which shows you what you have earned. You then send us an invoice and we make a payment to you within 2 weeks of receipt of the money from the networks.
Can I use Premium SMS for website passwords?
Yes you can. However we will need to integrate into your website so that we can update your password file. Please contact us if you would like to do this.
Is the system just UK or can I bill non-UK mobile users?
Currently immedia24 is for UK users only. In order to provide other territories we will need a Premium SMS shortcode for EACH country. We hope to have other European country codes shortly.
What about the US?
At the moment the way that Premium SMS works in The States makes this difficult to do - each content provider will need to pay for their own shortcode, which costs 1000s of dollars per year.
Can I sell to the UK even if I am not based in the UK?
Yes you can. Anyone can sell to UK mobile users - there are over 60 million phones in the UK so there's plenty of opportunity.
Transfers of money into non-UK accounts will incur a transfer charge.
Can I choose my own keywords that the mobile user will send with their initial text?
Yes you can. As long as the keyword is not used by someone else you can select your own keywords for galleries and files.
I will be doing alot of mobile downloads. Can you provide me with lots of keywords and a higher revenue rate?
Yes we can. We can provide you with a dedicated shortcode which allows you to create unlimited keywords at no additional cost. If you are a volume user we can offer you a much higher revenue per message. Please contact us for details.
How will people find my galleries or know how to download the content?
We help you as much as we can - all your galleries are automatically added to our content directory which is available in web and mobile form and optimised for the search engines.
We will also be promoting our content providers via mobile advertising in the future.
However you will need to do your own promotion - you can put the codes onto your existing site, add the gallery link code onto our own site or promote it through banner exchange programmes.
Many webmasters also use advertising for mobile downloads in magazines and is generally very successful.
I am a content provider and run an affiliate programme. Can I resell the system?
Yes you can. immedia24 can be branded for your own use, we can give you full control over your users and you will receive revenue for each download. Please contact us us for more information.
